Parenting Resources We Actually Use

Let’s be honest, parenting is hard. Some days it feels like you’ve got zero help but other days, everyone is trying to help! Your mom, your neighbour, that one Facebook group are all giving advice… and suddenly you’re knee-deep in conflicting advice and six open Google tabs wondering if you’ve ruined your baby’s sleep forever.

And then someone says

“Aiya! don’t overthink la! We never had all this and we turned out fine kan?”

Maybe. But also… we’re kind of grateful we do have all this now. We’re the lucky generation of parents with access to sleep experts, physios, pediatricians, midwives who’re all just one click away. So why not use it?

Over time, we’ve found a few standout resources we keep coming back to, the ones that cut through the noise and actually made us feel calmer, more confident, and a little less like we’re winging it 24/7.

So, from one slightly-sleep-deprived parent to another… here are our real go-tos:

1. Baby Milestones – Pathways.org

www.pathways.org

Forget scrolling forums or second-guessing yourself about whether your baby is “on track” Pathways.org is where we go to check “Is this milestone normal?” and “Should I be worried yet?”

They break down motor, sensory, and communication development by age and have actual videos so you can see what each skill looks like in real babies. Plus, it’s created by pediatric therapists. That means it’s clear, reliable, and focused on empowering parents.

At first glance, its overwhelming! So many buttons and videos, BUT BUT BUT….its all to help with organization! I easily keep coming back every month to learn what I should expect or be doing for my son at his age  The videos are also <30 seconds long so i just watch a video or two here in any little pockets of time I have. Its really built for mums!

2. Sleep Training – Taking Cara Babies

www.takingcarababies.com

If you’ve ever searched “how do I get my baby to sleep?” You’ve probably found Cara. Her newborn and infant sleep classes are gentle, realistic, and evidence-based especially great for new parents who want to support better sleep without harsh training methods.

And the best part? You don’t even need to buy the full course to get started! Her free blog posts alone are goldmines of practical advice!

Our favourite thing about Cara is how she teaches you to read your baby’s lseep cues, udnerstand wake windows, and build flexible routines that work with real life!

Honestly, those first first few months were a blur. I was sleep-deprived, my husband was exhausted, and the baby cried a lot. We kept asking “is this normal? What can i do?”. This blog was a lifesaver and its still one of the first places we send fellow new parents.

3. Starting on Solids – Solid Starts

www.solidstarts.com

Whether you’re introducing solids or wondering if it’s okay to serve chicken liver 😳, Solid Starts is the gold standard. Their searchable First Foods database shows you how to prepare everything from avocado to anchovies based on your baby’s age, chewing ability, and allergy risk.

💡 Bonus: Their Instagram account is full of videos and food play encouragement. Plus, they’re feeding therapists so it’s grounded in real expertise, not just trends.

We’ll likely create another blogpost in the future about our journey with solids! Its a wild one i tell ya!

4. Mobility / Exercise / Play – Niconeosteo (Malaysia) and Falmed Academy

These are accounts on Insta that are pretty helpful to have for tips on baby’s development coming to you throughout your day. Beats doomscrolling 100%

@niconeosteo

This page is run by Nicolas Grimaldi a certified osteopath in Malaysia (he’s been here since 2011, you can probably visit him too if you need to). He gives bite-sized but powerful tips on infant body tension, flat head syndrome, and more.

Its from his videos that my husband learnt how to do the football carry with our son for tummy time and how to give our son massages in the morning. We love how the videos are short, clear, and easily applied!

@falmed.academy

Falmed Academy is run by Dr. Stanisław Faliszewski, a physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience. He has a paid course but we just watch his videos on insta.

There are always a bunch of insta influencers who talk about baby this or that but only use a doll for their examples. This guy actually runs classes and is in contact with babies all the time. His videos are super helpful because you actually see how to move your baby and help your little one exercise.

Its from this page that we learnt about transitions and how to help our son move from one position to another (side note: its so crazy to think how we take the simple mechanic of going from lying down to sitting up for granted).

He does have some funky naming like “royal position” or “tiger position” but once you get over that, his videos are a gem of a resource!

A Final Word

You don’t need 50 tabs open. Just a few trustworthy voices to guide your steps. These are the ones we keep coming back to not because they’re flashy, but because they’re tried, tested, and actually helpful.

If you’re the kind of parent who finds peace in learning… welcome. You’re one of us 🙂
